One-paragraph description

Homework Turtle is a homework organizer and study companion built for students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences. It combines a homework tracker, calendar, focus timer, notes, flashcards, AI study guides and practice quizzes, and AbilityBridge (a resource hub for IEPs and 504 plans) in one calm, predictable app. At its center is Shelly, an AI tutor that explains step by step instead of giving answers, sees what's due, and asks for permission before the first chat. Homework Turtle shows no ads, never sells personal data, requires verifiable parental consent for children under 13, and is available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the web in the United States. Free to start; Student $4.99/month, Family $9.99/month, Parent+ $14.99/month.

One sentence

Homework Turtle is the homework app built for students who learn differently, with Shelly, a patient AI tutor that explains instead of answering.

Founder quote

"Shelly is for understanding your work, not for doing it for you. Kids who learn differently are used to being rushed, sighed at, or told to 'just focus.' We wanted to build the tutor that never does any of that — and a homework app that doesn't punish you for having a brain that works its own way."
— Billy Miecuna, founder, Oddball Outpost LLC

Launch press release

For immediate release

Homework Turtle Launches on the App Store and Mac App Store: A Homework App Built for Students With ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia

Its AI tutor, Shelly, explains step by step instead of handing over answers — and asks permission before the first chat.

MINEOLA, N.Y. — September 13, 2026 — Oddball Outpost LLC today released Homework Turtle for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, alongside the existing web version at homeworkturtle.com. Homework Turtle is a homework organizer and study companion designed from the ground up for students who learn differently, including students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences.

Most homework apps are built for the "average" student and add features until they overwhelm. Homework Turtle takes the opposite approach: a calm, predictable interface that works the same way every day, with a homework tracker, calendar, focus timer, notes, flashcards, AI-generated study guides and practice quizzes, and AbilityBridge, a resource hub for students with IEPs and 504 plans.

At the center of the app is Shelly, a built-in AI tutor. Shelly walks students through problems one step at a time, checks their understanding along the way, and will happily re-explain the same concept as many times as it takes. Shelly also sees the student's homework list, so "what should I start with?" gets a real answer, and it can turn a pasted syllabus or a photographed worksheet into tracked assignments.

"Shelly is for understanding your work, not for doing it for you," said Billy Miecuna, founder of Oddball Outpost LLC. "Kids who learn differently are used to being rushed, sighed at, or told to 'just focus.' We wanted to build the tutor that never does any of that — and a homework app that doesn't punish you for having a brain that works its own way."

Built for kids, so built carefully

Because Homework Turtle is made for students as young as nine, privacy is a design constraint rather than an afterthought. Homework Turtle shows no advertising, uses no ad tracking, and never sells personal information. Children under 13 use the app only after verifiable parental consent, consistent with COPPA. Shelly is powered by Claude, an AI model from Anthropic; students or their parents explicitly agree before the first AI conversation, can switch AI features off at any time from the app's Privacy & Data settings, and their conversations are never used to train AI models.

Availability and pricing

Homework Turtle is available today in the United States on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, on the Mac App Store, and on the web at homeworkturtle.com. One account works across every device.

The app is free to start, with no credit card required. The Student plan is $4.99 per month and includes 250 AI sessions a month, AI study guides and quizzes, and unlimited notes and flashcards. The Family plan is $9.99 per month and covers up to five linked children, with 600 AI sessions a month shared by the family and a parent dashboard. Parent+ is $14.99 per month and adds a weekly report card email, early warnings before work is late, and view-only access for up to three tutors or co-parents. Pricing is the same on the App Store, the Mac App Store, and the web.
